Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Office of health care professional. Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Private practice. Tasks: Administer evaluative tests. Administer tests using equipment, instruct patients on test procedures and record results, and monitor, check and calibrate auditory equipment. Assist physicians in the assessment of patients. Develop information materials for patients. Examine adult clients to assess hearing loss, recommend type of hearing instrument, take earmold impressions and perform follow-up examinations and readjustments. Follow through on treatment programs with patients. Make decisions on tests and procedures. Clean and maintain equipment. Maintain clinical and progress reports. Document patient rehabilitation progress. Perform general clerical duties. Process files and paperwork. Take earmold impressions and fit and adjust hearing instruments. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Licensure by a provincial/territorial regulatory body for Hearing Instrument Practitioner. Area of specialization: Audiology.
