In 2008, Master?s Academy and College joined the Palliser School Division?s Alternative Program. This joint program is based on the unique teaching philosophy and model called Profound Learning, as a faith-based Christian school in accordance with the School Act in Alberta. Master?s Academy Educational Society (MAES) is responsible for the ongoing research and development of the Profound Learning model as well as supporting the implementation of the model at Master?s. Prepares for assigned classes, and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon request. Prepares materials for learning, and classrooms for activities, as appropriate.<p> Instructs using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus. Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Assigns lessons and corrects homework.<p> Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Prepares, administers, and grades a variety of student evaluative tools such as projects, tests, assignments in order to evaluate students' progress. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct student records as required.<p> Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom they are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies and rules governing students.<p> Meets with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress. Confers with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to discuss children's progress and resource needs, and to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems, as appropriate.<p> Confers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
