<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div><p>Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Welder to join our team. </p><p>The Welder will read welding blueprints and drawing specifications, and fabricate tanks and boxes required to build transformers in compliance with CSA and CWS standards, using appropriate shop equipment. He/she will interact with co-workers and take direction from the shop Supervisor in completing assigned projects. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Major Areas of Responsibility: </strong></p><ul><li><p>Read and interpret welding blueprints and drawing specifications. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Fabricate tanks and boxes using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) techniques. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Work independently with minimum technical direction and supervision. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Plan and implement solutions to mechanical problems with Supervisor's help. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Pay mental and visual attention involving tolerances. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Handle medium to heavy materials intermittently. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Complete work within expected periods of time. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Minimize scrap and rework. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Complete shop records accurately and completely follow company policies and procedures. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Work safely, using all safety equipment supplied. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Communicate well with colleagues and supervision. </p></li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Requirements </strong></p><ul><li><p>Knowledge of metal work fundamentals and <strong>Canadian Welding Bureau Certification. </strong></p></li></ul><ul><li><p><strong>Minimum of one year successful experience in the metal stamping, metal fabricating or similar related industry. </strong></p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Ability in handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods and attention to detail. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Ability to operate manual, semi-automatic or fully automated welding equipment, manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), drill presses, and hoisting/ lifting equipment. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Ability to use hand measuring instruments such as tapes and squares. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment. </p></li></ul></div>Company Description<div>Northern Transformer <span class="long-word">www.northerntransformer.com</span><br><br>Northern Transformer Corporation is a North American manufacturer of liquid filled transformers of the highest quality and reliability serving the North American market since 1981.
