We are located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. The Sxoxomic Community School enrolls 63 students from kindergarten to Grade 9. We pride ourselves on creating a unique, student- centered learning environment that embraces Secwepemc values as the foundation for grades K4-9. We promote holistic development that nurtures growth academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Students and families are also welcomed into a dynamic and supportive learning community that extends outside of the classroom walls.<p>Necessary Qualifications :<p><p> The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Principal of the School <p> Completion of a recognized Education Assistant course and/or an ECE trained worker<p> Experience and/or training working with groups of children in a school or other educational setting<p> Training and experience with students challenging behaviors<p> Demonstrated ability to employ effective behavior management techniques<p> Physically capable of performing all duties of the job<p><p>What we require: <p><p> Under the direction of the teacher, provide educational assistance in learning activities for students<p> Working one on one and in small groups<p> Assist with school supervision before and after school and during recess and lunch break<p> Share information with student support team to support design of IEP?s, learning activities and transition plans<p> Cultural and ability sensitive as well as trauma informed<p> Patience and understanding while managing children with diverse learning needs<p> Uses adapted strategies/activities to accommodate individual learner needs/styles<p> Carries out work within developed structures and plans and records progress notes from observations and one-to-one experience<p> Reviews/reinforces learning activities using lesson plans and learning strategies developed by the teacher and/or the learning support team<p> Documents, monitors and reports to teacher on program/strategy implementations <p> Implements specific techniques and monitors effectiveness of workplace settings and reports concerns to teacher/administrator<p> Will be flexible to work within the entire school setting when unscheduled changes arise<p> Has valid BC Drivers License (Class 5) or N<p> Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset<p> Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Sector is required- LocationVancouver, BC
