*Job Title: Junior Accountant*

*Key Responsibilities*
In this role, you?ll support a variety of essential accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. As a Junior Accountant, you?ll be involved in everything from processing transactions and reconciling accounts to assisting with month-end activities. Key duties include:
* Verify invoices by matching to receiving reports, and ensuring proper extensions, taxes, coding, and approval (when required)
* Prepare and enter batches of invoices
* Prepare weekly cheque runs, wire transfers and EFT payments
* Prepare cheques for signature, obtain signatures and forward to vendors
* Maintain new vendor set up and vendor files
* Complete vendor credit applications
* Reconciliation of vendor statements and follow-up of outstanding invoices
* Resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies
* Prepare debit memos to vendors for pricing or quantity differences
* Communicate with vendors and respond to their inquiries
* Respond to routine e-mail, voicemail and general inquiries regarding accounts payable
* Verify and process employee expense reimbursements
* Bank reconciliations for all bank accounts
* 1st of Month subledger and general ledger checks
* Utility Account Maintenance
* Work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles while ensuring proper internal control procedures and corporate policies are followed
* Continuous improvement of self
* Respect for people with communication, consideration, and cooperation
* Matching and filing of all payments and payment backup
* Back up for the other Accounts Payable Specialists
* Other duties as required
*Qualifications:*
* Accounting knowledge and experience (Accounting Diploma would be an asset).
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Strong analytical/problem solving skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel
