CHILD AND<p>YOUTH WORKER <p> Social Skills <p>The Simcoe County District School Board is committed to supporting the academic achievement and mental health and well-being of all students. Child and Youth Workers in Social Skills classrooms, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, will: <p>?implement universal and targeted strategies and initiatives within the classroom that promote student well-being as it relates to learning;<p>?provide support to specifically meet the needs of the students as related to social-emotional skill development;<p>?promote and facilitate everyday mental health and well-being practices in the classroom;<p>?work in collaboration with the classroom team to support co-regulation of students rooted in trauma informed and responsive education practices to settle students for learning, foster relational safety, and increase a students sense of belonging;<p>?engage students in mental health literacy learning opportunities;<p>?guide student led mental health awareness and stigma-reduction activities;<p>?provide psychoeducation to families on well-being strategies that support student mental health and co-regulation;<p>?provide system navigation and referral services to students and families;<p>?provide support and service rooted in cultural humility, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practice. LOCATION AND <p> PRINCIPAL or SUPERVISOR NAME <p> F.T.E. <p> Position Details <p> STATUS <p> Social Skills<p> Rob Norris, School Principal<p> Linda Blom & Megan Francis, Special Education 1.0 FTE<p> 6.5 HOURS DAILY <p> Social Skills Class - Cundles Heights Elementary School <p> Permanent Salary Range: $27.17 - $31.80 per hour<p>Start Date: As soon as possible<p>Qualifications: <p>?3-year college diploma: Child and Youth Worker, or equivalent 3-year college diploma/university degree with a focus on child and youth studies.<p>?Knowledge of social emotional skill development strategies, every day mental health and well-being practices, co- regulation, and mental health literacy that are strengths based, anti-oppressive and evidence informed.<p>?Working knowledge of trauma informed and responsive education practices in response to developmental trauma.<p>?Professional learning in self-regulation, Kids Have Stress Too, safeTALK an asset. <p>?Demonstrated knowledge of engaging with children, youth and families rooted in intersectionality, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice that nurture safe(r) spaces, cultural humility, and inclusivity.<p>?Demonstrated experience in developing successful collaborations both within a school board as well as with the wider community. Knowledge of community and social service agencies, their mandate, programs, and services.<p>?Demonstrated experience with transference of knowledge and building the capacity of other professional services.<p>?Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.<p>?Excellent organizational skills.<p>?Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.<p>?Ability to work independently and utilize professional discretion.<p>?Ability to adapt to changing situations in the workplace.<p>?Software application skills including experience with MS Office Applications Word and Excel.<p>?Experience in an educational setting is preferred.<p>?Must possess a valid drivers license and have reliable transportation (Itinerant assignments only).<p>?Knowledge of board approved crisis intervention programs, e.g. Beha
