The Director of Human Resources, Labour Relations and Employee Wellness is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the areas of Employee Relations, Labour Relations, Human Resource Systems and Operations, Organizational Development, and Occupational Helath and Safety at CMHA Hamilton. This Director oversees each portfolio, providing leadership to ensure the provision of strategic, high-quality, safe and evidenced-based services in partnership with staff and stake holders and in keeping with the vision, mission and values of CMHA.
The Director will lead a team of subject matter experts to build a culture that empowers and inspires the CMHA employee community. The Director is tasked with creating and delivering advanced HR, Labour Relations, and Wellness services focused on fostering a high-performance culture and respectful work environment that attracts, retains and inspires the best.
The Director will also provide similar HR roles as listed in the Duties and Responsibilities as a function of support and services to the affiliates of CMHA Hamilton.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3+years of progressive, human resources leadership and management experience within a complex, unionized and public sector environment, preferably the healthcare sector;
* Minimum of a Bachelors' Degree in a related field required. An acceptable combination of education and extensive experience in Human Resources, along with a professional designation may also be considered. CHRP and/or CHRL designations are considered an asset.
* Proven experience with strategic HR planning, while maintaining a hands-on approach in ensuring effective day-to-day HR operations is essential
* Demonstrated team leadership skills
* Demonstrated talent for building relationships, fostering collaboration, leading transformational change and exploring innovative approaches to building human resource structures and practices;
* Expertise in labour relations and the collective bargaining process;
* Solid working knowledge of all relevant legislation (ESA, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Hospitals and Labour Disputes Arbitration Act, the Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act);
* Expertise in occupation health & safety including WSIB and disability management processes;
* Excellent team building, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; and
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with experience conducting presentations for all levels of the organization including at the senior leaders and the Board of Directors
* Knowledge of the health care and hospital system is an asset
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with continuous improvement processes
* Good standing membership in professional organization, if applicable
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and every-changing environment
* Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
* Demonstrated ability to manage budgets
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* French-speaking is an asset
