At the City of Penticton, our goal is to serve our residents, businesses, and visitors through good governance, partnership, and the delivery of effective and community-focused services.The City of Penticton is looking to fill the position of Parks Amenities Serviceperson in our Parks Department. The Parks branch of Public Works is responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the parks, beaches, sports fields, trails, and cemeteries within our community.Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Parks Amenities Serviceperson plans, directs, inspects, installs new and maintains existing City parks amenities including and not limited to: furniture, trails, playgrounds, play courts, sports fields, walkways, fencing, signage, water equipment, structures and other hardscape features. This position involves year round outside work.Key Duties & Responsibilities: Construct, inspect and maintain park amenities including and not limited to: furniture, trails, playgrounds, play courts, sports fields, walkways, fencing, signage, structures and other hardscape features. Perform light carpentry construction and repairs. Prepare, form, pour and finish concrete for pads, walkways and similar infrastructure. Operate the City workboat and install, inspect and maintain water equipment including buoys, rafts, slides, etc. Operate and perform general maintenance of vehicles, tractors and a variety of hand tools relating to parks maintenance operations and report problems requiring mechanical servicing as required. Respond to enquiries from staff, contractors and the public, and maintains courteous and positive relations when doing so.Education, Training & Experience: Minimum three (3) years' experience in construction relating to park or landscape development or construction atmosphere or a 2 year combination of education and experience in a related trade. Recognized courses or certification in risk management, carpentry, workplace inspections, playground safety and park/landscape construction. Completion of secondary school or equivalent. CPRA Canadian Playground Inspector Certification. Pleasure Craft Operator Card or other recognized boat operator certification as required to operate City of Penticton workboat. Approved training for operation of All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). BC Association of Crane Safety Certificate of Qualification Boom Truck Crane.
