Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Take measurement to determine size and shape of dentures
  • Make impression and mould of teeth, gums and jaws
  • Construct dentures
  • Fit, adjust and repair dentures
  • Perform denture whitening and cleaning
  • Prepare partial dentures
  • Re-line and re-base dentures
  • Fabricate mouth protectors, anti-snoring prostheses and removable prostheses on implants
  • Write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for use by denturists and dental technicians
  • Take dental impressions
  • Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays
  • Polish and buff dentures
  • Mould wax over dentures set-up
  • Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures
  • Take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts
  • Examine the patient
