The City of Abbotsford is seeking a full-time, dedicated Facility Maintenance Technician II to join our team. As a Facility Maintenance Technician II, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our recreation facilities. You will monitor and maintain aquatic and water treatment systems, refrigeration equipment, and plumbing systems. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with special events, providing support to user groups and performing custodial duties for the ice arenas, swimming pools, and public and multi-purpose areas. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to quality and safety including procedures for handling chlorine, ammonia and cleaning agents used in City recreation facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of technical, building service, custodial, and maintenance tasks. Your duties will include maintaining pool and ice rink equipment, performing minor repairs on machines, pumps, and filters, and ensuring the security and cleanliness of our facilities. If you have experience in pool maintenance, ice installation, and basic carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical skills, we want to hear from you! To be considered for this position, you must have:Completion of Grade 12 or the equivalent Two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of ice-making equipment and refrigeration and pool filtration systems, or equivalent Valid BC Class 5 Driver?s Licence Ice Facility Operator (IFO) Certificate or Refrigeration Plant Operator Certificate or BC equivalent Level I and Level II Pool Operator?s Certificates from a recognized association or educational institute Due to the nature of the job, you must be available to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
