Research Initiatives and ServicesCapacity Development and Engagement, NL SUPPORT(Contractual Position to March 31, 2026) BACKGROUNDNL SUPPORT is a research support centre dedicated to realizing improved outcomes for all users of the healthcare system by fostering a culture of patient-oriented research that collaborates with patients to identify their needs, and responds to those identified priorities. Reporting to the NL SUPPORT's Engagement and Capacity Development Operational Lead, the successful applicant will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team focussed on supporting Patient-Oriented-Research in Newfoundland and Labrador. Quality of Care NL, a key program of NL SUPPORT, is a collaborative effort between the leading health care partners in Newfoundland and Labrador. Quality of Care NL's goal is to improve the quality of care in NL by facilitating change to ensure the right treatment gets to the right patient at the right time. DUTIESThe Research Assistant II will be responsible for research related duties which include supporting the development and delivery of training in Patient-Oriented-Research to patients, clinicians, researchers, policy-makers and students across Newfoundland and Labrador; assisting in identifying training needs and planning training activities; supporting the management of NL SUPPORT funding opportunities in patient-oriented research; deputising for the Engagement and Capacity Development Operational Lead at national working groups regarding training and capacity building; creating and sharing tools and resources; supporting the evaluation of the implementation and effectiveness of the training plan with stakeholders. Duties also include supporting engagement activities such as playing an active role in managing NL SUPPORT's patient and public advisory council; coordinating and supporting patient partners; supporting research teams with their patient engagement approach; assisting with the implementation of meaningful patient engagement; recruiting patients as partners for research projects and the Unit; deputising for the Engagement and Capacity Development Operational Lead at national working groups regarding patient oriented research; and performing other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONSExperience (1-3) years in training, facilitation, consulting or quality improvement related roles; completion of most coursework towards a master's degree in health research, human resources, public relations, psychology, or health policy is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. Extensive understanding of patient and public engagement techniques; recruitment and support of volunteers, knowledge of Patient-Oriented-Research; the ability to deliver (introductory) training sessions; facilitation, communication and relationship building are required. Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral skills are all a requirement of this position. The ideal candidate must be a team player with a collaborative working style, good communication skills and have the ability to pursue projects independently, with proactive actions and an inner motivation to succeed in a research focused environment.
