Medical Device Reprocessing Technician
*Description:*

This position is 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week), Monday to Thursday.
*Main Objectives:*
To work within a team to reprocess all medical devices within the Kamloops Surgical Centre
*Reports to:*
Surgical Services Supervisor
*Direct Reports:*
none
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
· Reprocess all medical devices in accordance with manufacturer?s instructions
· Keep accurate and up to date documentation pertaining to all reprocessing
· Identify any damaged instrumentation and inform supervisor
· Receive shipping and unload products in the storage area
· Keep accurate records of all goods received and shipped
· Liaise with peri-operative staff regarding instrumentation and products
· Participate in MDR audits and education
*Qualifications:*
· A recognized medical device reprocessing certificate including both practical and theoretical components (required)
· Previous experience in healthcare preferred
· WHIMIS (can provide training if needed)
· CPR (can provide training if needed
*Working Conditions:*
The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 6am ? 5pm. The work is inside the Medical Device Reprocessing Department. The MDR Technician must have the ability to stand and walk around for most of the working day.
*Physical Requirements*
The position is physical, bending and stretching and lifting during a shift. Ability to view the instrumentation in fine detail.
Strength Guidelines
· The ability to lift 20-30 pounds
Motion Parameters
· Will require use of stairs, bending, squatting, and twisting.
Vision and Hearing Requirements
· Vision and hearing must be good with the ability to hear in noisy situations, and ability to see fine details in the MDR
Psychological Demands
· Calm demeanour is essential with the ability to make quick decisions under stressful circumstances.
