Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Truck and bus driver/commercial vehicle operator and instructor. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Mountain driving expertise. Professionalism in customer service. Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Ensure compliance with government regulations. Knowledge of licensing regulations. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles). Class 4/4F/F/4A-B-C Licence (ambulances, emergency vehicles and buses with fewer than 24 passengers). Commercial Driver Registration Program (CDRP) Card. Skid Control Training. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Liquid bulk. Tractor-trailer B train. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. National. Provincial/territorial. Regional. Short-haul.
