There are a total of 51 school sites with 33 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle schools, 5 Secondary Schools, 3 Learning Centres, an Alternate Education School, and an Online Learning School (K-12). We believe equity empowers each learner to thrive, holistically.<p><p>We are currently hiring:<p><p>CUSTODIANS <p><p>Custodians are responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintain the upkeep and safety of schools and facilities. Custodians take on a range of janitorial task on including, cleaning waxing, and ensuring adequate heat and light. Custodians have an essential role in the Operations Department; they assist school based staff in locking or unlocking rooms, moving furniture and equipment. Custodians are responsible to maintain the recycling program.<p><p>Custodians have knowledge regarding methods, materials and equipment required to provide high standard custodial services. Also a working knowledge of systems to safely respond to an emergency is needed.<p><p>Custodians will be working on a casual basis and will be on-call throughout the district. Full time work is available for custodians working on a casual basis and casual custodians are eligible to apply on full time vacancies. Please note that while the majority of shifts are from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, Monday to Friday, successful applicants may be required occasionally to work day shifts or during weekends.<p><p>Applicants for Custodial positions must have completed Grade 10 and have successfully completed the Building Service Worker (BSW) course or a comparable course/training. Ideally, candidates will have at least two years' experience in the application of modern custodian methods and procedures.<p><p>Successful applicants will also be expected to: <p><p>- Have the physical condition and health to carry out the required duties of this position;<p>- Possess a level of English to be able to understand oral or written instructions;<p>- Display excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor;<p>- Work with little or no supervision and be a team player;<p>- Complete a criminal record check.<p><p>The hourly wage for this position is $26.74 per hour . Casual custodians will get 5% of bi-weekly earnings in lieu of vacation, 4.6% of straight time earnings in each pay period in lieu of statutory holidays. <p>After successfully completing a probationary period and attaining seniority, casual Custodians will receive 10% in lieu of benefits when working 20 hours or more per week.<p><p>Qualified candidates are invited to apply with a cover letter and resume outlining relevant background and work experience, 3 professional references and a copy of the BSW certificate.<p><p>The Central Okanagan Public Schools thanks all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.- LocationKelowna, BC
