Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p>The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking qualified Instructors in Japanese, or Tamazight, and on Khmer Language to fill Continuing Education International & Indigenous Languages teaching and/or supply teaching positions.<p>Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Boards (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school, and the District, by creating a positive and inclusive school climate, learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, with a human rights and equity perspective, to foster student success, achievement and well-being. About the Program INTERNATIONAL & INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES PROGRAM (Elementary)<p>The International & Indigenous Languages Program is mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Education and provides high quality instruction in non-official languages. The International & Indigenous Languages program is offered on Saturdays from September 7, 2024 to June 14, 2025 (33 Saturdays in total) and is attended by students from JK to grade 8. <p> Language <p> Day <p> Time <p> Mode of Instruction <p> Location <p> Japanese <p> Saturday <p> 9:30am - 12:00pm <p> in-person <p> Hopewell PS <p> Monday & Tuesday<p> Wednesday & Thursday <p> 4:15-5:30 pm <p> virtual <p> N/A Tamazight Saturday <p> 9:30am - 12:00pm <p> in-person <p> Hopewell PS Khmer <p> Saturday <p> 9:30am - 12:00pm <p> in-person <p> Adult HS The rate of pay for an IILP instructor ranges between $21.26 to $31.43 + 4% vac pay per hour depending on qualifications and experience, including years of teaching experience in the IILP at OCDSB. <p> Eligibility & Qualifications Applications will be considered on the basis of the following: <p> Fluency in the target language; <p> Teaching experience, with preference to teaching experience of the Japanese language; <p> Related degree or diploma, with preference to Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent would be an asset.<p>Instructors who are not currently OCDSB employees will be required to submit a valid Police Records Check for employment with the Vulnerable Sector, acceptable to the OCDSB and less than 6 months old, prior to their first day of work. <p> Responsibilities Plan, coordinate and implement a program that is optimal for the target language learning and that reflects current teaching practices in Ontario; <p> Ensure the safety and well-being of students; <p> Familiarity with digital tools (e.g., Google Meet, Google Classroo
