Data Management LeadPosition Status: Full-Time RegularDepartment: Human Resources and Corporate ServicesEmployee Group: Teamsters Local 31Location: 4515 Central Boulevard, BurnabySalary Range/ Wage Rate: PG T33 $4,475.43 - $5,303.38 bi-weekly Our Human Resources and Corporate Services Department is seeking a Data Management Lead who will oversee database administration and data analytics teams, ensuring optimal performance, security, and alignment with business needs. This role leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, data pipelines, and analytics solutions. Additionally, the Data Management Lead incorporates new technologies, enforces data governance, and implements data security measures to protect sensitive information. You are: A collaborative and skilled data professional with extensive experience in database administration, data analytics, and project leadership. You bring a strong foundation in optimizing database performance, security, and reliability, along with expertise in designing data pipelines, implementing ETL processes, and aligning data solutions with business objectives. This role:Leads, assigns, directs and oversees the database administration team to ensure optimal performance, uptime, security, and efficiency of database systems; plans and incorporates new technologies for database infrastructure and advancements; oversees the development and enforcement of comprehensive database security policies and adherence to protocols to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access and breaches. Oversees the implementation of robust backup and recovery strategies to maintain data integrity and availability in the event of system failures or disasters; plans and guides the integration of new database technologies and tools. Leads, assigns, directs and oversees the data analytics team in developing and implementing data analytics initiatives that align with business and user needs; leads the architecting, development and deployment of data related initiatives, including data transformation scripts, data warehouses and data analytic dashboards. Acts as a project manager and scrum master for data analytics related initiatives to ensure efficient management of work in progress and new work requests; develops comprehensive project plans for data analytics initiatives, including defining project scope, objectives, time lines and resource requirements; and ensures alignment with business goals and stakeholder expectations. Conducts research to identify emerging trends and technologies in data engineering methodologies, processes and technologies to enhance data analytics capabilities; designs, develops, prototypes; and implements data solutions; integrates new technologies and tools into the existing database and analytics infrastructure; tests new ideas and approaches to solve data challenges; focuses on improving scalability, efficiency, security and reliability; and makes recommendations to standardize technologies in data engineering. Liaises with client departments and IT to assist in the resolution of service programs and issues; and provides advice and guidance to other staff engaged in projects of less complexity. Ensures the ongoing functionality and performance of existing data analytics assets; performs regular maintenance, updates, and optimizations to keep assets operating efficiently; troubleshoots and resolves issues related to data analytics assets; provides timely and effective support to minimize downtime and maintain data integrity; monitors the performance of data analytics assets; generates regular reports on their usage, performance, and any issues encountered; and identifies areas for improvement and innovation. Manages the development and implementation of data analytics projects; aligns projects with technical capabilities and strategic goals; researches and evaluates new tools and technologies; plans bi-weekly sprints; creates technical documentation as needed
