The Optometric Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of an optometry practice. This position involves assisting the optometrist in providing exceptional patient care, managing office tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping others, particularly in a medical setting.
*Duties*
* Greet and assist patients as they arrive at the office, ensuring a welcoming environment.
* Perform preliminary eye exams and tests as directed by the optometrist.
* Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records systems, such as Epic.
* Schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently to minimize wait times.
* Provide information about eyewear options and assist with retail sales of optical products.
* Educate patients on proper eye care and the use of prescribed eyewear.
* Handle front desk responsibilities, including answering phones and processing patient inquiries.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure high standards of patient care and office efficiency.
*Skills*
* Experience in pediatrics is a plus, enhancing the ability to work with younger patients.
* Familiarity with medical office environments and procedures is essential.
* Sales experience, particularly in retail or optical settings, is beneficial for assisting patients with product selections.
* Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems to maintain accurate documentation.
* Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care is important for effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.

Pay: $18.00-$21.89 per hour
