The Principal will demonstrate exemplary interpersonal skills, provide visionary leadership, and have teaching experience in grade 7-9 classrooms. The Principal will foster a collaborative learning environment in the school where staff and students are supervised in a welcoming, caring, and safe environment. Instructional leadership will be prioritized with ongoing support provided to the teaching and support staff so that all students experience academic success. The Principal will work toward building positive relationships with parents/guardians, community members, and other agencies. The Principal will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the school are met by adhering to the MESC policies, regulations, and procedures. The Principal will exhibit a commitment to learning and demonstrate self-reflection and a desire for continued growth in leadership.<p> As a leader in the organization, the Principal will model the intent of the Maskwacis Declaration on Education and the core values of yinw Mmitonehicikan, Nehiyaw Pimtisiwin, Nehiyawewin, and Whkhtowin. This is evident by: <p> Ensuring that decisions are made to the ultimate benefit of Maskwacis students; <p> Assisting the Superintendent and the board to ensure that all students benefit from their treaty right to quality education; <p> Respecting and promoting the Cree language, spirituality, and traditions within the Education Authority; and <p> Providing Maskwacis leadership (the Cree way) in all matters relating to education in the Maskwacis Schools: consensus building, creating dialogue with stakeholders, and empowering leadership in the system. <p> Qualifications <p> Interested applicants must have the following qualifications: <p> Bachelors degree of education required <p> Masters degree preferred <p> Valid Alberta teaching certificate required <p> Knowledge of the Nehiyawewin (Cree) language, culture, and traditions is an asset <p> At least 5 years of secondary school teaching experience and/or school leadership experience <p> Minimum 2 years of educational administrative experience or leadership experience is an asset <p> Knowledge and Skills <p> The knowledge and skills required for this position include: <p> Knowledge of the Nehiyawewin language, culture, and traditions. <p> Strong interpersonal, organizational, public relations, and teamwork skills. <p> Strong oral and written skills. <p> Ability to work independently and as a team member. <p> Initiative to set priorities and identify plans of action. <p> Ability to work effectively with school personnel, parents, students, and community members. <p> Aware of and able to appropriately interpret all applicable laws and regulations for education, policies, and practices. <p> Maintain confidentiality and integrity, showing respect to staff, parents, and members of the public. <p> Well-developed interpersonal skills, organization, written, and public relations skills. <p> Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization. <p> Ability to adapt to and learn new software. <p> High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts. <p> Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines. <p> Culturally and politically sensitive. <p> Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills. <p> Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures. <p> Attention to detail in all areas of work. <p> How to Apply <p>Interested applicants can submit resumes and cov
