We are happy to work with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.Engineering Technologist II (Water Supply)OperationsCUPE, Temporary Full-timePosting #J1024-1591The City of Abbotsford?s Utilities Infrastructure division is currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team on a temporary full-time basis to cover a 12 - 18 month leave as an Engineering Technologist II (Water Supply). In this role you will enjoy technical and administrative engineering work related to the City?s Water Supply Infrastructure where you will carry out and assist staff with work related to operational and capital projects; coordination of a variety of water supply programs; and system process and water treatment performance.This skilled position requires a high degree of technical knowledge relating to utility operations, including the operation and maintenance of water supply, transmission mains and facilities and ability to report knowledgeably on activities related to these utilities. Your attention to detail is key as you carry out investigative activities, review and analyze data, maintain records, prepare reports and correspondence, scheduling work and interpret engineering drawings. You will utilize your communication and organizational skills as you to prepare clear concise reports, keep detailed records and deal tactfully with representatives of business, institutions and the public. Your strong interpersonal skills will assist you as you liaise with consultants, contractors, municipalities, and other stakeholders. You will work effectively both independently and in a team environment, and have the ability to learn and apply new procedures and techniques related to the work. To be considered for this position you must have:Diploma in Water Engineering Technology, Water Treatment Technology, Water/Wastewater Technology or other related discipline Five years? related experience including working with a water supply system Valid Class 5 BC Driver?s Licence Membership or eligibility for membership in the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC at the technologist level This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $42.71 to $50.22 per hour.
