*Job Summary*
West Broadway Youth Outreach is searching for a full-time youth worker. The youth worker is responsible for assisting program coordinators in program preparation, facilitation, and evaluation. Currently, programs for youth ages 4-12 are being offered onsite, so the ideal candidate will have an engaging, communicative and consistent presence in person. Additionally, the youth worker will help maintain discipline throughout the facility, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants. The youth worker will also be accountable for assisting the Executive Director and Program Coordinator in stewarding incoming donations; the ideal candidate will be comfortable working on site and participating in pick-ups and drop-offs (drivers license preferred). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong awareness of and commitment to agency policies and procedures while communicating if there are any barriers preventing you from performing your job as effectively as expected.
*Candidate must be flexible when there are time sensitive responsibilities or events. *
*Weekends or other days of the week dependent on calendar of events.*
*Responsibilities*
* Provide direct support and guidance to children in various settings, including after-school programs, community centers, or residential facilities.
* Develop and implement educational activities that promote learning and personal growth.
* Foster positive relationships with youth by being approachable, understanding, and empathetic.
* Monitor and document the progress of each child, providing feedback to parents or guardians as necessary.
* Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive program that meets the diverse needs of all participants.
* Facilitate group discussions and activities that encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care by adhering to established policies and procedures.
*Requirements*
* Currently Enrolled in High School/University/College or have a degree/diploma in a related field (Education, Child Care, Recreation, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology etc.)
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds.
* A genuine interest in educating and mentoring young people.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
* Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
* A background check and child abuse check required prior to employment.
* *\*Short listed candidates will be asked to complete Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks\*.*
*Assets:*
* Class 5 Driver's License
* First Aid CPR
* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
* Knowledge of Inner-City Issues
* Experience living in the West Broadway area
