We provide an excellent work environment with substantial opportunity for individual growth. *Job Summary:* The Metal Building Systems Erector is responsible to assemble and install pre-engineered metal buildings and steel components. Moves material to the top of a structure and maneuvers them into position, calculates loads and selects and attaches correct slings. Builds frames and supports for heavy equipment. *Key Responsibilities *(include but are not limited to): * Planning, installation and construction of pre-engineered buildings and steel components * Comprehends blueprints, drawings and specifications to prepare layouts, planning resources and methods of work in accordance to building codes * Operate a variety of tools, equipment and machinery (ie. forklifts/aerial platforms, etc) * Determine the materials required and plan the sequence of tasks * Prepare material prior to assembly * Assemble and erect prefabricated metal structures * Hoisting steel, attaching cables and slings to each piece using levels, transits and laser equipment * Directs crane operator with signals to position steel units according to blueprints * Align, level and bolt steelwork in place * Install wall cladding types such as shadowall with roll insulation, liner panel and IMP. * Install MR-24 roof panels as well as other types of hidden fastener systems. * Provide mentorship and training to apprentices and labourers * Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report hazards/violations immediately to the Foreman on-site * Participate in/at worksite safety meetings * Proactively identify and prevent hazards * Ability to pass a physical assessment for employment and drug/alcohol testing as required for pre-access * Flexibility in working periods of overtime and out of town * Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship. *Education & Experience* * Previous experience erecting steel pre-engineered buildings and installing cladding * Certified Ironworker-MBSE in Alberta or Red Seal designation required * Previous experience in commercial construction * Construction Safety Training (CSTS) is preferred * Standard 1st Aid * Fall Protection certification an asset * Aerial Platform certification an asset * Valid driver?s license to get to/from worksites *Knowledge, Skills & Abilities* * Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques * Ability to operate machinery and equipment * Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently * Ability to solve problems quickly and accurately * Pride in teamwork with outstanding project delivery * High standard work ethic * Proven ability to mentor and train apprentices * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable software APPLY NOW Scott Builders Inc. is an employee owned, leading Design-Build Construction Management firm based in Alberta, with projects throughout Western Canada.
