Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Medical clinic. Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Public or community health centre. Tasks: Perform diagnostic tests. Operate and monitor respiratory equipment to administer treatments. Monitor vital signs during cardiopulmonary surgery. Perform artificial respiration and external cardiac massage. Operate, monitor, maintain, calibrate and test equipment. Participate in research related to cardiac and pulmonary disorders. Assist with the preparation of cardiac catheterization room, prepare specialized catheters and assist cardiologists during catheterization. Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition. Perform cardiac and cardiopulmonary stress tests. Prepare medications and administer inhaler and other treatments under supervision of cardiologist. Program and monitor an implanted devices during surgery. Provide information and care for patients during tests. Assist with transport of high-risk patients. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certificate of Registry from the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists - R.R.T.. Sleep medicine training. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificate. Registration with the Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT). Neonatal Resuscitation Programs (NRP) Certificate. Respiratory therapist specialization: Anesthesia. Critical care. Pediatrics. Cardiopulmonary diagnostics. Pulmonary function. Sleep disorders.
