*Job Overview*
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our amazing team!
*Responsibilities*
* Perform routine maintenance on several diesel engines
* Perform daily checks on all tour vessel engines
* Inspect for worn or damaged parts using checklists
* Diagnose issues and run tests to identify problems
* Complete oil changes for boats, motor vehicles and equipment
* Recondition or replace parts, systems and components such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves and others
* Keep accurate records of all service and repairs
* Meet all quality standards and follow safety procedures to ensure regulatory compliance is upheld
* Take an active role in waste management & sustainability objectives
* Perform other duties, as assigned
*Minimum Requirements*
* Marine Engine Technician certification or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of marine mechanical systems and equipment steering systems, propulsion systems, water-jets and variable pitch propellers, thrusters, bilge pumps, fire suppression etc.
* Ability to lift up to 100lbs
* Minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar role (asset)
*Essential Requirements*
* Proficient in the use and repair of hydraulic machinery on boats
* Dexterity, physical fitness, balance and agility
* Strong problem solving skills
* Mechanical aptitude
* Technical proficiency
* Ability to work unsupervised
* Punctuality and reliability
* Ability to stand for long periods
* Knowledge of the Tobermory area
*Working Conditions*
* Workweeks are 5 or 6 days weekly
* Shifts are between 6-12 hours per day
* No shifts begin before 7:30am or finish later than 10:00 pm
* ½ hour unpaid lunch break
* Frequent exposure to noise, a regular flow of people, and often rough waters of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron
* Reassignments during shifts
* Weather dependant shifts may be cancelled without notice
* Opportunity to work overtime, with paid compensation
* Blue Heron Company approved uniform must be purchased and worn at all times on shift
