It would be beneficial if the candidate also has experience and qualifications in Behavioral Intervention. Support staff who work at our school are an integral part of the team and will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner when interacting with children, other students, staff and/or parents. Support staff recognize the need to encourage independence in students and to be part of a team that implements, supports and nurtures individualized learning goals for students with challenges. It is expected that all staff respects the confidential nature of information concerning students and will work collaboratively with student support services personnel to the benefit of the children. The successful candidate for this position must be genuinely committed to helping children who have learning exceptionalities learn to their full potential, be self-motivated by taking initiative and be self-directed within the classroom framework. Support staff must be aware of indicators of child abuse and their obligation to report suspicion of child abuse to the Ministry of Children and Family Development. <p>Basic Responsibilities : Work under the supervision of the Classroom Teachers, Special Education Coordinators<p> Knowledge and experience working with children with a variety of physical and intellectual disabilities, behavior concerns and other learning difficulties is an asset<p> Assist with school supervision during recess and lunch breaks<p> Share information with student support team to support design of IEP's, learning activities and transition plans<p> Cultural and ability sensitive as well as trauma informed<p> Patience and understanding while managing children with diverse learning needs<p> Uses adapted strategies/activities to accommodate individual learner needs/styles<p> Carries out work within developed structures and plans and records progress notes from observations and one-to-one experiences <p> Reviews/reinforces learning activities using lesson plans and learning strategies developed by the teacher and/or the learning support team<p> Documents, monitors, and reports to teacher on program/strategy implementations<p> Implements specific techniques and monitors effectiveness of workplace settings and reports concerns to teacher/administrator<p> Will be flexible to work within the entire school setting when unscheduled changes ariseMinimum Qualification Requirements: Has valid BC Driver License (Class 5) or N <p> Teaching Assistant Certificate or ECE Certification/Experience<p> Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset<p> Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Sector is requiredLocation: 1156 SenPokChin Blvd. Oliver BC V0H 1T8<p>Start Date: December 2, 2024 June 30, 2025<p>Workdays & Hours: Monday to Friday 8:15 am to 3:15 pm<p>Term of Employment: Maternity Leave<p>Pay Rate: Based on CUPE District Grid<p>Deadline for Application<p>Open until filled <p>Email <p>Send resume, cover letter and references to Leona Baptiste: lbaptiste@oib.ca and Julie Shaw: principal@senpokchin.com
