<p><b><span>With a career at The Home Depot, you can be yourself and also be part of something bigger.</span></b><br> </p><b>Position Overview:</b><p>The Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, organized retail crime and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store (s). The APS will drive execution of the Company?s internal and external theft and fraud strategy and utilize several tools to minimize loss to the Company. The APS must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to and support key AP and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives</p><br><b>Key Responsibilities:</b><br>Building Relationships<ul><li>Communicate with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM</li><li>(Market Asset Protection Manager) on internal and external investigations and</li><li>physical security within the store</li><li>Maintain an open channel of communication with store management and all</li><li>associates. Partner with store management to drive AP issues</li><li>Drive a ?Shrink Elimination? culture within the store environment</li><li>Participate in the In Focus program</li></ul><br>Compliance<ul><li>Detain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company procedures</li><li>Drive execution of store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies. Validate environmental compliance to company standards.</li><li>Check physical security of The Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter theft/fraudulent activity</li><li>Write reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserve evidence and interact with law enforcement</li><li>Represent the Home Depot in a professional manner throughout all court-related procedures</li></ul><br>Build Skills and Knowledge<ul><li>Meet all Home Depot and AP training and certification requirements</li><li>Create associate awareness for shrink issues related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies and physical security</li><li>Effectively support the AP Team Plan</li><li>Effectively utilize CCTV and exception reports and audit the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems</li><li>Test building alarm system</li><li>Conduct surveillance when required</li><li>Set challenging objectives and communicate clear expectations</li><li>Demonstrate a clear bias for action and a sense of urgency on priorities</li><li>Take ownership of success/failures of initiatives and processes.</li><li>Understand and use financial indicators/metrics to measure the performance</li></ul><br>Decision Making and Doing the Right thing<ul><li>Use sound judgement and makes good decisions in a timely manner.</li><li>Treat internal customers (Home Depot Associates) with the highest level of responsiveness</li><li>Demonstrate behaviors and work styles that are consistent with The Home Depot values</li><li>Stand up for what is right in the face of opposition at any level</li><li>Form and maintain effective partnerships across organizational boundaries to share information</li><li>Safety expectations for this role are outlined under The Home Depot Canada</li><li>Environmental Health & Safety Management system element under "Worker".</li></ul><br><b>Competencies:</b><ul><li>Action Oriented</li><li>Collaborates</li><li>Communicates Effectively</li><li>Customer Focus</li><li>Drives Results</li></ul><br><b>Skills:</b><ul><li>Communication and negotiate effectively with all levels inside and outside the organization</li><li>Ability to analyze situations and resolve issues with innovation and creativity.</li><li>Proven ability to lead and drive complex projects to completion</li><li>Exceptional Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office knowledge a must</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels</li><li>Strong wo
