For more information about our school district, visit https://www.vsb.bc.ca/<p>POSITION DETAILS:<p>SVLC is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled educator to work in a highly collaborative team environment teaching Career Education and Science to students in Grades 8-10. The final course selection to be taught and working days will be determined once student enrollment is set. <p>SCHOOL AND PROGRAM PROFILE:<p> Vancouver Alternate Secondary School (VASS) programs are a Type-3 Alternate School. It is comprised of nine interagency programs and six alternative programs. The inter-agency programs are partnerships between the VSB, MCFD, and contract service providers such as Milieu Family Service, UNYA, PLEA, and PCRS. The programs focus on educational, social, and emotional goals for students with complex learning profiles. VASS provides its support through differentiated instruction, program delivery focusing on positive relationships, and enhanced counselling services based on student need. SVLC is a linear Program designed for students in Grades 8-10. The primary goal of SVLC is to provide students with a safe and inclusive environment with additional academic, behavioural, and/or social/emotional support. The curriculum focuses on academic and elective courses leading to a BC Secondary School Graduation Certificate. The partner agency for SLVC is Milieu Family Services.<p>THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE: <p><p> Bachelor of Education<p> Academic training and/or qualifications in Science, Math, Career Education<p> Coursework and/or previous successful experience in programs designed for students in tier three programs. <p> Training emphasizing positive behavioural interventions, trauma informed practice, mental health supports, and strategies for working with students in alternative programs. <p> Familiar with differentiated instruction, individualized programming, and the redesigned curriculum. <p> Familiar with long-range academic planning, writing/implementing IEPs, and the overall case-management process that addresses the individual and complex needs of various students with diverse learner profiles. <p> Knowledge of the requirements for the Dogwood Diploma Graduation Program. <p><p>Your application MUST inclu
