Darke Hall is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic *Business Development Manager* to join our team. The Darke Hall Business Development Manager is a member of the senior management team reporting to the Artistic Producer. The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in advancing the Darke Hall mission through financial and human resources management, strategic planning, fundraising and relationship building as well as facility management.
Darke Hall Society is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that operates the recently renovated historic concert venue. Our programming includes presentations of contemporary and classical music, theatre, comedy, and dance. We are also a rental venue that gives priority to local artists and arts organizations as well as the U of R Conservatory of Performing Arts and the Department of Music.
*Key Responsibilities:*
1. Budget and Finance: In consultation with the Artistic Producer, develop annual operating and project budgets, ensuring proper allocation of resources and tracking of expenses.
2. Audit: Provide the auditing firm with the information required to prepare the annual financial report.
3. Grant Writing: Research and write grant proposals to secure funding from government agencies and foundations, ensuring alignment with Darke Hall Society?s mission and goals.
4. Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including donors, community leaders, and other arts organizations to foster collaboration and support.
5. Fundraising: Develop and implement comprehensive individual and corporate fundraising campaigns.
6. Human Resources Management: Together with the Artistic Producer and Technical Director, manage a work culture that supports employee, artist, and volunteer engagement and open communication.
7. Facility Management: In concert with the Technical Director, ensure that the facility is well maintained and in full compliance with health and safety regulations.
8. Systems Management: Ensure that communications, IT, website, ticketing software, and building systems are meeting the needs of the venue.
9. Insurance: Ensure that Darke Hall Society, the building, and venue renters are adequately insured.
*Skills and Qualifications:*
- Passion for the Mission: a deep commitment to Darke Hall Society?s mission and values.
- Financial Savvy: Ability to provide strong financial management, business development leadership and expertise to the organization. Experience with QuickBooks is important.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis to assess program effectiveness.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fundraising Knowledge: Familiarity with fundraising principles, grant writing, and donor relations.
- Background in non-profit management, business administration, fundraising, or program management is an asset.
