People like you!This is supervisory work involving responsibility for directing, coordinating and participating, as required, in the work of one or more small crews engaged in a variety of Parks Development unit installation, construction and major maintenance projects. Projects include constructing parking lots, playing fields, tennis courts, fences, bridges, retaining walls and greenhouses; installing drainage systems, water lines, manholes, catch basins, playground equipment, barricades, sewer lines and related services and facilities, as well as landscaping, seeding, fertilizing grass areas and planting trees. An incumbent of this class estimates and orders materials required, allocates tools and equipment to projects and prepares time sheet and routine work records. Ensures the safety of crews and the public by advising and enforcing applicable accident prevention precautions and methods; in addition to assisting a supervisor in planning and implementing the operations and programs of the Parks Development unit. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in parks development construction, installation and major maintenance work as well as the knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to the work. A Foreperson1 - Parks Development will have the ability to plan, assign, coordinate, supervise and participate in the work of one or more crews of subordinates. Ability to assist a supervisor in planning and implementing unit operations; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates and the public; to prepare work records, time sheets and related material, and read and interpret plans and diagrams. Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the work. A Driver?s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.Please apply online by December 23, 2024.
