The _Lloydminster Meridian Source_, based in Canada?s border city, is seeking a full-time motivated multimedia journalist to join its award-winning news team. The _Source_ is a locally owned community newspaper with over 70 years of history in print journalism, printing once per week on Thursdays. Journalists can expect to cover everything from local sports and human-interest stories to municipal and bi-provincial political and healthcare issues. Fluency in social media and WordPress is considered an asset. We value diverse viewpoints, new ways of thinking and a collaborative approach to delivering results. The successful candidate possesses outstanding leadership and communication skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. A passion for community storytelling is a must and eagerness to infuse multimedia into coverage is encouraged. Key attributes and skills include: ? Excellent knowledge of CP Style and proper grammar. ? Proficient in using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop ? Ability to write using multiple sources and details pulled from a variety of places. ? Thorough understanding of social media, photography, video, and print journalism. ? Understanding of urgency for coverage of breaking news online. ? Initiative and determination to improve and supplement both digital and print platforms. ? Ability to multitask and come up with story pitches. ? Two to three years of experience preferred. The successful reporter will be supported by the publisher, as well as the managing editor.
