Co-Op Student - IT Technician <p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> LOCATION: <p> <p> <p> Administration Office, Pembroke<p> <p> <p> <p> <p> TYPE OF POSITION: <p> <p> <p> Summer Employment <p> <p> <p> <p> <p> DATE REQUIRED: <p> <p> <p> May 1, 2024 or TBD<p> <p> <p> <p> <p> HOURS <p> <p> <p> Up to 35 hours/week<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p>JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the manager of IT, the IT Technician (Co-Op Student) will assist in system implementations and provide support to all IT Staff. During the tenure of the Co-Op placement, the student will be engaged with different staff members, to assist in day-to-day job duties.<p>The IT Technician will be responsible for:<p><p> Provide support for maintaining school board computer equipment, routine repairs, and preventative maintenance at the District office and school sites as required;<p> setup new Windows and Mac computers.<p> Troubleshoot Network connectivity.<p> Operate IT Helpdesk and respond to IT work Orders.<p> Planning and maintenance of new and existing Board and School LAN and WAN communication links;<p> Maintenance and installation of WAN (Wide Area Network) nodes and components;<p> Maintenance and installation of LAN (Local Area Network) servers and components; <p> Configuring, programming and table maintenance of WAN equipment, including routers, bridges, hubs and switches; <p> Performing cable management and running/terminating Cab5e or Cat6 Cable as required.<p> Keeping abreast of new technology developments and network hardware and software components; and<p> Other related duties.<p><p>QUALIFICATIONS: <p><p> Currently Enrolled in a 2-year diploma in Computer Systems, from Colleges and Universities recognized Ontario Community College or University;<p> Excellent working knowledge of microcomputer and network operating systems and protocols (MacOS, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 &2016, TCP/IP); <p> A self-motivated, critical thinking team player with superior inter-personal and organizational skills;<p> Present and maintain a composed, discreet and professional manner, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced computerized environment; <p> Excellent command of verbal and written English;<p> A valid driver?s license in good standing with the Ministry of Transportation, and access to a reliable mode of transportation for travel among Board schools and offices<p> Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, are assets.<p><p>CLOSING: All interested applicants are invited to submit an updated resume including details of qualifications, experience and professional references.<p><p><p> TO NOTE: <p><p><p> Applications sent directly to the schools or to Human Resources will NOT be considered.<p> It is imperative that all NEW applicants to the Board submit an ORIGINAL current, satisfactory Vulnerable Screening Criminal Background Check prior to commencement of employment.<p> We thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those shortlisted will be contacted. <p><p>RCCDSB- Is committed to barrier-free selection processes and therefore if contacted for this position or testing, you should advise the HR Department in a timely fashion of the accommodation measures required to enable you to be assessed in a fair and equitable manner.<p> <p><p> <p> <p> <p> Bob Schroeder<p> <p> <p> Mark Searson<p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Chairperson<p> <p> <p> Director of Education
