NSC Minerals Ltd. was established in 1988, Since then, we have grown to become a major supplier of minerals, such as Salt and Calcium Chloride in Western Canada and the North and Midwest regions of the United States. In 2020, NSC was purchased by Stone Canyon Industry Holdings and we are now part of a larger group of companies that includes Windsor Salt and Morton Salt.
Our head office is located in Saskatoon, SK and we have operating plants in Rocanville, SK, Vanscoy, SK and Brooks, AB. We have a packaging plant just outside of Saskatoon, SK and bulk inventory storage in Alberta and Manitoba. Along with our focus on safety and the environment, we have a dedicated employee base, solid logistics network and a committed customer base.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger, and preparing month end and year end close procedures. Reviews accounting records to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of accounting processes and procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Reviews Invoices and Accounts Payable transactions and approves as required
* Assists Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable position when team is absent.
* Completes month end processes including inventory reconciliations, journal entries, bank reconciliation, prepaid reconciliations, and other reconciliation as required.
* Reviews monthly accruals and adjustments as required.
* Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial data.
* Assists with the budget preparation process
* Assists in researching budget variances
* Helps oversees Finance Team
* Reviews provincial and federal sales tax and self assesses as required.
* Liaises with IT and sales regarding creating and updating Business Intelligence reporting as required
* Other duties as assigned by Controller
Requirements:
* Bachelor?s degree with Accounting or Finance combined with 3 years of experience in a similar position. An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
* Organized with strong attention to details
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Intermediate user of Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel and PowerBI
* Previous experience with Microsoft Great Plains (GP) would be considered an asset.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
