*Job Posting: Ophthalmic Assistant*
*Position:* Full-Time Ophthalmic Assistant
*About Us:* We are a newly established ophthalmology/retina practice dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. This position combines technical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of our clinic while delivering dedicated patient care.
*Position Overview:* The Ophthalmic Assistant will assist ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality patient care. The role requires performing diagnostic tests, assisting physicians in patient assessments, managing patient flow, and supporting administrative functions of the office. The ideal candidate should be organized, compassionate, and possess a strong attention to detail.
*Responsibilities:*
* *Pre-testing and Screening:* Perform visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurement, administer eye drops and medications.
* *Patient Medical History:* Gather comprehensive medical histories from patients and update records accurately.
* *Ophthalmic Testing:* Administer ophthalmic diagnostic tests and assist in assessment procedures.
* *Assisting Physicians:* Support physicians during patient assessments and exams.
* *Electronic Medical Records (EMR):* Accurately document patient information and test results using EMR.
* *Exam Room Maintenance:* Prepare and clean exam rooms, ensuring they are properly equipped for patient visits.
* *Equipment Sterilization & Maintenance:* Sterilize ophthalmic instruments and ensure proper maintenance.
* *Supply Management:* Maintain and organize medical supplies, ensuring the clinic is well-stocked.
* *Patient Communication:* Contact patients regarding appointments, treatment updates, and follow-up care.
* *Appointment Scheduling:* Schedule and confirm appointments; manage patient flow and check-in/check-out procedures.
* *Reception & Telephone Support:* Manage office functions including reception duties and handling incoming calls.
* *Surgical Support:* Assist in the preparation and administrative duties related to surgical procedures.
* *Confidentiality:* Ensure all patient information is handled with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
* *Other Duties:* Assist with any additional tasks required for the smooth operation of the clinic and patient care.
*Qualifications:*
* Experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician or in a medical office environment is an asset but not required.
* Knowledge of ophthalmic testing and procedures is a plus.
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
* Proficiency with Plexia Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is an asset.
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
* A positive, patient-focused attitude with a willingness to learn and grow in the ophthalmic field.
