Join us and be part of a company that values excellence and progress!Growing company with opportunity to grow with team and departmentStable full-time hours; no rotating shiftsEmployee referral bonus program (minimum $300 per hire)Competitive benefits package for you and your family at 3 months of servicePension plan and company matching at 1 year of serviceFloater day given on top of vacation daysDiverse workforce; translation of communication materials into 8 languagesDiscounts on quality pork productsEmployee assistance program (financial assistance, mental health resources)Social Committee events (food trucks, gifts, games)BBQ's and wellness programsOn-site training and company provided equipmentEmployee scholarship program and English coursesKEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and implement the strategic plan for the purchasing departmentPrepare and execute the annual business planLead and supervise purchasing roles, resolving problems, conducting training, and setting schedulesCreate and implement a talent plan to continue to build the departmentLead cross functional teams to co-ordinate requested packaging changes and recommend and implement based on cost analysis.Source materials and develop the negotiation strategy for new contractsOversee day-to-day procurement and make recommendations regarding price and supply changes.Oversee budgeting for packaging inventory requirementsCreate a distribution plan and strategy to optimize the management of inventory and suppliesLead quarterly reviews with major suppliers to discuss improvements and potential opportunities to strengthen our partnershipsWork with the Packaging Inventory team and Finance team look for opportunities to improve invoice processing and receivingPrepare recommendations and maintain financial records to proactively highlight budget concernsMonitor and report performance against plans and ensure proper executionCo-ordinate with operations to complete product trialsResponsible for monitoring and tracking contract terms and expiration datesAssess options to optimize our processes and the potential of new systems or toolsOther TasksFollow the Conestoga WAY in the way you work with othersIdentify and implement process improvements to eliminate repetitive errorsParticipate in continuous improvement projectsPersonal DevelopmentAttend company required trainingRemain current with trends and technical knowledge in areas of responsibilityAttend regular 1:1 coaching/update sessionsDevelop a strong understanding of our production process and systems to ensure the most efficient tracking of our productsDevelop a strong relationship with Shipping, Operations, Quality and Finance functionsQUALIFICATIONS:5-7 years of experiencePrevious purchasing or production supervision experience is requiredPost-secondary education requiredAdvanced knowledge of computer systems (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook)Strong analytical skillsAbility to prioritize workload and lead a teamProactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvementAttention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrategic thinker with strong negotiation skillsStrong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environmentKEY COMPETENCIES:Ac
