Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: General manufacturing. Tasks: Assemble prefabricated parts and sections of fibreglass, metal or other materials to form boats. Change machinery attachments. Clean work area. Monitor machine during operation. Mark defects to be repaired. Check manufactured items for defects and conformance to specifications. Operate machine to fabricate parts and products. Sand, trim, grind or clean products into final form using hand tools. Screw, clip, glue, bond, weld or otherwise assemble parts and components to form final products. Cut, shape and fit materials to form parts and components. Design tools, moulds, jigs and fixtures. Design and develop equipment and procedures for the production of fibres, yarns and textiles. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly. Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts.
