Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Work site environment: Corrections. Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance). Work setting: Community service organization. Residential/client's home. Social service or charity agency. Tasks: Interview client individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems to determine the types of services required . Perform administrative tasks. Plan programs of assistance for clients. Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group. Advocate on client's behalf in courts or at hearings. Apply for social program funding. Administrative and office activities. Provide clients with information. Prepare reports or case histories. Implement life skills workshops. Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services. Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs. Conduct follow-up assessments. Provide suicide and crisis intervention. Resolve conflict situations. Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research. Screen, recruit and train volunteers and support staff. Housekeeping activities. Provide supportive counselling and life skills programming. Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Accompany clients to appointments and social outings. Supervision: 16-20 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Mental health first aid Certificate. Provincial certificate of registration. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate.
