Construction for Sanirajak’s new $11M daycare facility is slated to open in January 2026 but may be delayed due to a lack of housing for construction workers. Pile installation, planned to start in fall 2024, has already been delayed. The daycare is expected to accommodate up to 44 children and create dozens of jobs. Construction of the Nunavut and federal governments’ joint $75.5M project to build five new air terminals in Chesterfield Inlet, Whale Cove, Naujaat, Kugluktuk, and Kimmirut is nearing completion. The five air terminals are expected to open for travellers this spring. Additionally, the new air terminal in Rankin Inlet is estimated to cost about $85M and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026.
