Schmitz, Anderson & Nielsen is growing and we are looking for a career-minded individual interested in a challenging environment with future growth in all areas of public practice.
The ideal applicant is a personable, self- motivated individual who has excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills. They will perform basic bookkeeping and payroll services; and will learn to prepare financial statements and tax returns for both Corporations and Not-for-Profit organizations, as well as personal income tax returns.
Specific duties include:
· Post monthly bookkeeping transactions
· Perform payroll calculations
· Prepare statutory filings, including GST, PST, WCB, payroll remittances, T4s and ROEs
· Prepare corporate year-end Financial Statements and supporting working papers
· Prepare income tax returns for individuals, corporations and Not-For-Profit
Organizations
· Data entry using various programs including: Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), Caseware, Profile, Excel and Word
The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of accounting procedures. Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounting office would be an asset. Proficiencies in word processing, spreadsheets, and email software are essential and a working knowledge of Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), Profile and Caseware are assets.
Critical thinking, problem solving and analysis, attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. The candidate must be able to prioritize their workload in an environment with multiple and changing deadlines and exercise judgement, tact and discretion in handling confidential information. Exceptional interpersonal, organization and communication skills with an aptitude for teamwork are crucial.
We offer a competitive wage, based on qualifications and years of experience. We also offer a student program providing reimbursement for successfully completed courses in the CPA program. Our regular hours of operation are 9 ? 5, Monday to Thursday, with a one hour break for lunch, however these hours are flexible depending on the student?s school schedule and may vary during income tax season.
