The NAPEGG Education Foundation distributed 11 new scholarships to engineering and geoscience students from the territories. The scholarships are intended to support students’ ability to access education with the hope they will return to northern communities and fill high-demand jobs.

The federal and Yukon governments renewed a 10-year Canada Community-Building Fund agreement which includes federal transfers of $94.5M over five years, and $200M in total over 10 years. The funding will go towards infrastructure projects that support land and housing development in the Yukon.

The Government of Canada has conditionally approved up to $40M to analyze a 765km transmission line network that would connect the Yukon electrical grid to the North American grid in British Columbia. The funding includes a pre-feasibility study completed by the Government of Yukon.

The Yukon government has committed $75K of its capital budget and proposed an additional $120K transfer to the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation’s Gindèhchik House and Zheh Gwatsàl House. This year, $24K is slated for a bridge construction feasibility study and $13.5K towards designing a kitchen and dining facility.
