Domtar, a company specializing in wood products, laid off 45 employees at its sawmill in Rivière-aux-Rats in La Tuque. The site will close permanently on March 1, 2025, resulting in additional layoffs.
Maski Hardwood Products, a company specializing in hardwood component manufacturing, closed in Louiseville. As a result, around 40 people lost their jobs.
Kruger, a paper manufacturer, is investing $23.75M in implementing new energy-efficient technology at its Wayagamack Mill in Trois-Rivières. The governments of Canada and Quebec are contributing $8.15M and $9.5M, respectively, to the project.
