The Ah’ta’apq Creek Hydropower project in Hot Springs Cove has finished construction and begun operation. The project provides the Hesquiaht First Nation with enough renewable energy to replace 75% of the community’s power need. This works out to about $375K in savings on diesel bills every year.

Work has begun on Allenby Road in Duncan to reopen the route to traffic. The road has been closed due to instability since flooding in 2021. Work to open the road to single-lane-alternating traffic will complete in September 2024. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will then look into long-term options for slope remediation to allow the road to fully reopen.
